Birthday Alternatives

We have had a few birthday's this year so far. In one of the classes, the teacher had decorated the child's desk. The child donated a book to the class library, which the teacher then read. The class all joined in and sang to the child. After this the child was presented with a card that the whole class had signed. Fun was had by all!
If anyone has any other ideas, please let feel free to share them.
